TRAINING: I have really worked on getting stronger this fight. I lift before work 5-6 days a week. Then I go to work. 4-5 days a week I will run during my lunch break. After work I head straight to Indy Boxing and Grappling for my MMA training. Then I go home and eat dinner and spend some time with my family. Then it’s off to bed and I get ready to do it again the next day.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training when I got back from my deployment to Iraq at the end of 2006. When I got home I was dealing with a lot of issues with PTSD and I needed an outlet. I knew a guy that trained at a gym in Indianapolis and was invited to come work out with Chris Lytle’s team. I was hooked after that. I feel like MMA has done so much for me physically and mentally. I'm not sure where I would be without it.
What ranks and titles have you held? Absolute Cage Fighting 155 lbs Champion
Do you have any heroes? Jesus Christ and my Father
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means that all the hard work has paid off. It means that I will be fighting the best guys in the world. It’s exciting.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to the University of Indianapolis for Physical Therapy. I didn't finish school... yet.
What was your job before you started fighting? I was and still am a full-time member of the Indiana National Guard. I love being a part of the military and I love my job. It’s great that it works out that I am still able to train and serve.
