50/50 Raffle Raises Thousands For Families in Canada

UFC and the Ottawa Senators Foundation Raise Thousands of Dollars During Fight Night Ottawa

UFC and the Ottawa Senators Foundation were able to raise thousands of dollars through a 50/50 raffle campaign held during the Fight Week of UFC® FIGHT NIGHT: IAQUINTA vs. COWBOY, which took place on May 4 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Canada.

“A big thank you to UFC and all their fans for tonight’s knockout 50 / 50 draw of more than $15,000!” said Danielle Robinson, President & CEO of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. “Funds raised will help educate local youth about the dangers of substance abuse and help them become champions in whatever paths they choose.”

A quarter of the proceeds will go to Project S.T.E.P., a comprehensive initiative that provides access to addiction prevention and counselling for youth and their families throughout Ottawa. Another quarter will go to the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the charitable arm of the NHL team, with the mission of empowering children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness.

“On behalf of Project Step and all of the youth across the city of Ottawa that you are supporting with this 50 / 50 raffle, we really appreciate UFC and the Ottawa Senators Foundation’s contributions to ensuring that youth in Ottawa have the opportunity to be their best and to learn about the dangers of engaging in substances,” said Jacqueline Miller, Director of Community Initiatives & Strategy for Project S.T.E.P and the United Way. “We have the support, treatment and education prevention, which is a full wrap around program that is unique to the city of Ottawa, and your contribution goes a long way. Your contribution gives us an extra punch so we can defeat drug and alcohol addictions here in Ottawa. Thank you so much on behalf of all of the youth, parents and families here in Ottawa.”

The winner of the raffle will receive $15,245, but they have not come forward at this time. Per Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario, a winner has six months from date of raffle drawing to come forward to claim prize with winning ticket.
