CONOR MCGREGOR TALKS ANTICIPATING A BIG IRISH RECEPTION IN BOSTON

"After his stunning knockout of Marcus Brimage in his UFC debut in April 2013, Conor McGregor was carrying a lot of hype into his North American birth in the stronghold of the Irish Diaspora, Boston Massachusetts, which was scheduled for August 17 in the TD Garden.
"Such was the anticipation around the Dubliner in Boston that the promotion had to give the Irish featherweight his own media day for his bout against Max Holloway, despite their bout being second from the top of the undercard for the UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs Sonnen card.
"The SBG man even received 'the blackout treatment', usually reserved for champions, on his way out to the ring as the reel of Sinead O’Connor’s 'She Moved Through the Fair' burst into The Dropkick Murphy’s 'I’m Shipping Up To Boston', sending the crowd into pandemonium.
"Although his North American debut marked the only time McGregor has failed to finish a UFC opponent, in no small part to him heavily injuring his knee while executing a knee slide pass on Holloway in the second round of the bout, the fanfare surrounding the former Cage Warriors double weight world champion really gained momentum around that particular event."
