TRAINING: Morning session is normally strength + conditioning or pad work, I like to have a swim at the beach in the afternoon, then MMA sparring or wrestling in the evening.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I loved the individual components of MMA - boxing and BJJ - and trained them to stay fit for my surfing career. I started competing in both and it led to MMA.

Do you have any heroes? BJ Penn, the ANZACS, Les Darcy

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It’s the pinnacle of the sport that I have fell in love with and dedicated my last seven years to. It’s a huge honor to be part of the UFC.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No - I finished high school though.

What was your job before you started fighting? Professional big wave surfer and also finished my trade as a carpet layer.
